Radar detection of cracks in concrete screed
ATKB carried out a geophysical survey of a recently completed all-weather running track with the 3D radar.
From the surface, superficial subsidence of the track was already visible. Closer inspection revealed cracks in the concrete screed under the synthetic track. Using the 3D radar, it was possible to locate cracks in a non-destructive manner. A damage report can then be drawn up on the basis of the 3D radar investigation. Due to the large area and frequency range required for successful interpretation, this research requires a 3D radar to be performed cost-effectively.
